Hands are notoriously difficult to do but older hands are so full of character and tell a life lived. These hands do exactly that...you can imagine their owner chatting to a friend or watching the world go by. The inspiration for this painting was a photo by Ludmila Yilmaz.
As with most of my artwork, these hands are completed using soft pastels and pastel pencils on Artspectrum Colourfix paper. The pencils are sharpened to a point and have allowed me to capture the details of the skin, nails and walking stick. The background is blended black soft pastel giving a unique finish to this painting.
This painting is 12 inch by 16 inch - in its gold frame it is 18 inch by 22 inch which is the perfect size for any wall.
